FAIR AND BALANCED... Don't miss the final presidential debate, moderated by Fox News' Chris Wallace, on Wednesday, October 19th at 9:00pm ET on Fox News Channel!

State Department spokesperson John Kirby says there is no truth to the allegation that a senior State Department official offered an FBI agent a "quid pro quo" to change the classification marking on a document accumulated in the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

On "Fox & Friends" this morning, Kirby said both the FBI and State Department looked into the claims of the unnamed FBI employee, but found no evidence that they were true.

"It's just not true. There was no quid pro quo even suggested or any kind of bargain laid on the table," Kirby said.

He explained that the State Department and FBI will often have debates and discussions about the classifications of documents, and this is just one example of that kind of inter-agency interaction.
