Trump jokes to student: 'Don't run for politics' - The Hill

President Trump on Friday joked to a young student she shouldn’t follow his footsteps into the world of politics. 

Trump was touring a fourth-grade class at St. Andrew Catholic School in Orlando, Fla., when he asked children what they were studying. 

One of the students told Trump she wanted to open her own business, which prompted Trump to offer some career advice. 

“That's a good idea. Make a lot of money right? But don't run for politics after,” the president responded. 

The joke came after teacher Jane Jones prepared her class to meet Trump with a lesson on the U.S. political system. A whiteboard behind Jones displayed a number of vocabulary words, including government, U.S. Constitution, limit, president, governor and naturalization.  

Jones kept her waiting students busy by discussing the presidency. "One day this could be for you," she said, a reference to security and press also awaiting the president. 

Trump visited the school in order to highlight his education agenda, which includes school-choice and voucher programs to expand access to private and religious schools. 

After the stop, Trump will travel to his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Fla., where he will spend the weekend.
