Tim McGraw still considering possible future in politics - Page Six
Tim McGraw may throw his 10-gallon hat in the political arena — but not anytime soon.
“I’ve been fortunate in my career and I probably wouldn’t have been able to do the things that I’ve done, and had the success that I’ve had, and come from where I come from, in any other country than this country,” McGraw, 49, told Big Machine Label Group (via Taste of Country). “It’s a great country. You always wanna look at ways that you can give back.”
In 2011, McGraw hinted he may someday be interested in running for office.
“I think ‘I’d like to run’ is probably sort of a rumor,” he told “Fox and Friends.” “I’m from Louisiana so politics always fascinate me. It’s sort of like a national pastime where I grew up. You know, you never say no to anything.”
The singer (and husband of nearly 20 years to Faith Hill) admitted that while “politics runs a little deep in [his] family,” daddy duty may get in the way of his political ambitions.
He added, “I’ve got three kids, I’ve had a great career, this country’s given me a lot of opportunities … so if there’s any point in time where I feel like I could actually help, you know, maybe that would be one thing I might do,” he said. “But it would certainly be after my kids are grown, and I wouldn’t worry about any kind of skeletons that might pop up.”
