Stephen Colbert brought back Laura Benanti to reprise her Melania Trump impersonation on his uncensored Showtime election special Tuesday night.
During the hourlong show, titled Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This S‑‑‑?, Colbert asked Benanti’s Trump about her earlier trip to the polls. “I was definitely, absolutely voting for his husband and no one else, especially not Hillary Clinton #ImWithHer,” she said.
The actress also plagiarized some lines from Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” and from the Taco Bell chihuahua and went on to thank Donald Trump’s Republican opponents, her family, including Ivanka Trump “who is like a slightly older sister to me,” the voters “who have been so supportive of me all the three times I was allowed to speak in public,” and, of course, “the man whose vision drove our entire campaign, Vladimir Putin.”
She ended her appearance with a zinger: “Finally, I want to remind you of my husband’s message that we should honor the vision of our founders and make America great again for rich, white, land-owning men with funny-looking wigs.”
