The 2018 Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport Gets 400-HP and a Nifty GoPro App - RoadandTrack.com
As one of the prettiest new cars on the road, the Jaguar F-Type hardly needed a facelift. Jaguar went and gave it a minor refresh anyway, and there's a new model–the 400 Sport. As the name suggests, its 3.0-liter supercharged V6 puts 400 horsepower to the ground, but interestingly it's only available for one model year.

Other than the power bump, most of the changes the F-Type 400 Sport brings are cosmetic. The 400 Sport comes standard with the F-Type's Super Performance brakes, Configurable Dynamics system, and 20-inch wheels. This model is only available in white, silver, or black, but Jaguar has included nifty yellow 400 Sport badging to add some visual flare.
You can have the 400 Sport with either rear- or all-wheel drive, but interestingly, it only comes with Jaguar's eight-speed automatic. If you want a six-speed for your 2018 F-Type, you'll need to get the R-Dynamic, which replaces the old base and F-Type S models. The R-Dynamic is offered with a choice of 340- and 380-hp V6s, and you can pair each motor with rear- or all-wheel-drive.
The V8-powered F-Type R and F-Type SVR remain mechanically identical to their predecessors, but they too get new LED headlights, and slightly revised styling. Thankfully, the whole F-Type range gets Jaguar's new Touch Pro infotainment system, which is lightyears better than the outdated system used in the current model. Jaguar also added what it calls Slimline Seats, which saves a not-insignificant 8 kg (17.6 pounds) of weight.
This tweaked F-Type also brings a new app created with GoPro, ReRun. The app combines GoPro footage, with speed, steering, throttle, and other data from the car. It's not unlike GM's Performance Data Recorder, though GM doesn't require the use of an external GoPro. For people who spend a lot of time on the track, ReRun will be very useful.
These are minor changes, but as we said earlier, the F-Type's looks didn't need improving. The 2018 F-Type is only subtly different than its predecessor, and that's something to be celebrated.
