Texas Tech steals football for wild 99-yard TD against Texas that shouldn’t have counted

Texas running back D’Onta Foreman’s Herculean effort carrying the ball toward the end zone Saturday didn’t quite pay off for the Longhorns.

With his team trailing Texas Tech 16-14 in the second quarter and with a rushing TD already under his belt, Foreman collected the ball for a 23-yard run, barreling through several defenders who tried to bring him down at the 8-yard line.

As Foreman was ready to break into the end zone, freshman corner Douglas Coleman swooped in and stole the ball inches short of the goal line, returning the fumble the other way for a 99-yard touchdown.

Douglas Coleman ripped the ball away from D'Onta Foreman at the very last second to return it 99 yards.

Officials determined after reviewing the play that Foreman didn’t cross the plane with possession of the ball and that Coleman’s touchdown was good.

However, an image from the end of the play shows Coleman stepping out of bounds at the 2-yard line before sprinting into the end zone.

Even with one referee taking a hard fall on the field during the play, the officiating crew should have at least picked up on the end route of Coleman’s run, for Foreman’s sake.
