Leonardo DiCaprio Blasts Commission on Presidential Debates for Ignoring Climate Change

Leonardo DiCaprio is outraged that climate change continues to be ignored by mainstream media, and he made it clear at the Hollywood Film Awards.
"2016 was the hottest year in recorded history," DiCaprio reminded the audience in his acceptance speech for the Hollywood Documentary Award for Before the Flood, which he recently produced and starred in.
The Academy Award-winning actor sought to make "a film that educates and inspires people to take action on an issue that has been willfully ignored and disputed for the sake of corporate profits, political capital and short-term personal gain," DiCaprio explained.
"Even in our own presidential and vice-presidential debate... [the] most widely viewed stages for the issues that define our future, not one question on climate change was asked, not one," he pointed out. "That is completely unacceptable."
Before the Flood has surpassed 40 million views since its release in October.
"There's no more time for arguing, for clouding the facts before spreading campaigns of misinformation," DiCaprio continued and urged every audience member to "do the right thing" on Election Day.
Though he did not mention Hillary Clinton by name, it's clear who DiCaprio is pulling for. Clinton calls the climate crisis "an urgent threat and defining challenge of our times," while Donald Trump has stated manmade climate change is a "hoax."
"Please vote this Tuesday, November 8, and vote for people who believe in the science of climate change," urged the actor.
Fisher Stevens, the director of Before the Flood, reiterated DiCaprio's message.
"Sadly, one of our candidates does not believe in climate change; the other one does, so let's get out there and vote and pray that after Tuesday, Trump is dumped," Stevens said.
