Donald Trump targets Democrat safe states in final campaign push

Nick Allenreports from Ohio:

"Who runs the world?" yelled Beyonce. "Girls! This is history."

She said it better than Hillary Clinton ever could. In an impassioned speech in the middle of a "get out the vote" concert in Cleveland the pop diva told 13,000 delirious fans it was time for a woman in the White House.

Her exuberant performance included dancers dressed in Clinton-style pantsuits, and a giant screen displaying a nuclear mushroom cloud as the penalty for not casting a ballot.

Above the screaming, and looking close to tears, she declared: "Look how far we've come from having no voice. I want my daughter to grow up and see a woman lead our country, and to know that her possibilites are endless. But we have to vote!"

For good measure Beyonce's husband, the rapper Jay-Z, told the crowd that Donald Trump was "not an evolved soul" and "cannot be our president".

After the concert Mrs Clinton walked on stage and hugged the hip-hop power couple.

"I feel energised. We have a glass ceiling to crack once and for all," the Democratic nominee shouted hoarsely, as puffs of cannabis smoke drifted across the Wolstein arena on the city's east side.

Earlier, a series of rappers had taken to the stage with vulgar lyrics including liberal use of the f-word.

Ironically, they also used a series of derogatory references to women including "b----" and "hos". Mrs Clinton thanked each rapper anyway.

At one point a performer encouraged the crowd to raise their middle fingers to Donald Trump, and thousands obliged.

Beyonce was the biggest celebrity weapon deployed so far by Mrs Clinton, and she was used where she was needed most.

Cuyahoga County, which includes the entire city of Cleveland, is increasingly ringing alarm bells for the Clinton campaign.
